John Walter Lawson, born March 6th, 1939, in Deerfield Michigan, went to meet his Lord and Savior on October 7th, 2025, at the age of 86 years old. At the time of his passing, he was a resident at the Lady Lake Senior Living facility located at 930 CR 466 Lady Lake Florida. During his early years John taught students at high school grade levels.  During his mid years, he became an entrepreneur and invested in properties throughout the United States. He also prepared meals for residents at shelters and became known as “The Traveling Cook”.  In his later years, he became involved in visiting the residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities singing with groups from the various churches he attended. John was a member of Eagles Nest Baptist Church in Fruitland Park, Florida and attended regularly until the last few months of his life when his declining health would no longer allow. John is survived by two sons (James and David Lawson) and one daughter (Margaret Lawson DeYoung) all currently living in Michigan.

John was quite a character. He liked to pick up items from various sources and brought a new meaning to “one man’s trash is another’s treasure”. He loved old cars and could tell you make, model, and year of most cars he saw at car shows. He enjoyed getting out when possible and loved touring the area looking at decorations and lights at Christmas time.

A memorial service will be held for John at Eagles Nest Baptist Church, 4650 Eagles Nest Road, Fruitland Park, FL  34731 on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Visitation for friends of John will be held in the church’s Fellowship Hall at 12:00 PM following the morning worship service. If you wish to remember John with a donation in his name, please send to Eagles Nest Baptist Church at the address listed above.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com
